A Brand New Monsterverse game: Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers
Here is a mobile game review I did as a sample article for an application. Wanted to put it on Substack so I could add it to my Video Game Article Collection.
Monsterverse fans already had a handful of games to choose from, such as Godzilla Strike Zone, Godzilla: Crisis Defense, and Kong: Survivor Instict. A new mobile game to jump into is Tilting Point LLC and Hunted Cow Studios' new Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers. Set in Legendary’s Monsterverse, which has produced an array of movies and games alike, Titan Chasers offers a 4X Massive Multiplayer Mode (MMO) game where players work through missions as “Titan Chasers” that are tasked with taking down monsters such as “Mother Longlegs, Rock Critters and the deadly Skullcrawlers.”
The mobile game features a beautiful 3D map with diverse climates, buildable outposts, turn-based combat, a cinematic introduction, and a customizable squad you move around the map to fight titans and collect valuable resources. Featuring two modes, Story and Wilderness, Titan Chasers offers a diverse selection of missions players can complete to further collect resources and expand their outposts, making the game a fun, long-lasting title to spend many hours on.
In the story mode, players track the coordinates of Ciara, a monarch researcher whose friends assisted the player and other Titan chasers at the beginning of the game. The player fights titans and humans alike in short, intense battles that rely on turn-based coordination. The game offers multiple classes of characters and titans to choose from: Chasers, Monsters, Damage Dealers, Tanks, and Support. Each class has unique stats and abilities that allow players to create their squad with fighting styles of their liking. Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chaser’s Wilderness campaign mode allows players to form a squad of titans to control and use to fight dangerous Titans threatening the the outpost and the other Monarch scientists around Siren Isles. Unfortunately, players will not be able to control fan-favorite titans Godzilla, Kong, or Mothra. Only smaller titans such as Skullcrawlers, Leafwings, and the Sporefly Queen are controllable.
Outside the player's outpost are enemy titans and humans, but also other players! The game features a robust multiplayer that allows players to form alliances and challenge others to battle on the map, similar to Supercell’s Clash of Clans. Soon after its release, players have already formed alliances in Titan Chasers that hold a hundred members. Alliances are given assignments, rewards, and a store that players can use to grow their resources and complete objectives together, incentivizing every player to join a team. The game includes a global chat for players to interact with, but alliances do not have their own chatroom, making the group not as immersive as other alliance-like groups in mobile games such as Clash of Clans.
Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers is available now to play on Apple and Android devices, where it stands as #7 in Role Playing and #1 in Top Free Strategy games respectively. With over 5k ratings and over a million downloads on the Apple and Android Stores, it has kept a five-star rating since its release, giving Monsterverse fans and Mobile gamers more reason to check it out today! The developers are working hard to improve the gameplay based on immediate player feedback, as shown with their recent 1.0.2 update that improved a multitude of mechanics including Daily Missions, Region Map, Expedition Panels, and Resource Generators.
